Matthew Adam Giesinger, Partner
Matthew grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba playing hockey on outdoor rinks in River Heights, before moving to Calgary at the age of 10 years old. While in Alberta, he developed a particular love for the mountains, skiing, and the city of Calgary. He moved to Toronto at the age of 15 and attended De La Salle College, Oaklands, in Toronto for high school before graduating with Honours and attending Guelph University for his undergraduate. There, he developed a particular passion for philosophy, which led to him following his passion and applying for law school. He entered Queen's University for law in 2006 and graduated in 2009.
Matthew was called to the bar in 2010 after articling at Sommers & Roth Professional Corporation working on high profile obstetrical negligence cases.
Matthew practiced in Belleville, Ontario for a year in civil litigation and family law before deciding to go out on his own after his son was born, due to the need to be available because of his son's special needs. He opened Giesinger Law in Napanee, Ontario, before moving to Kingston, Ontario a year later.
In Kingston, Matthew developed a compassionate and zealous approach to advocacy, representing clients in family law, civil litigation, while acting as Per Diem duty counsel in criminal and family law for 2 years in Belleville, Napanee and Kingston. There, conducting manner bail hearings, he developed an improvisational style of cross-examination that has suited him well.
In 2017, Matthew relocated to the Barrie area where he joined Rogerson Law Group, specialising in family law, cross-border litigation, Hague Convention cases and civil litigation.
In 2021, parting ways with Rogerson Law Group, Matthew decided to open a firm in Barrie, a full service litigation firm, with an emphasis on compassion and zealous advocacy.
Matthew isn't afraid to put himself on the line for his clients.
In his spare time, Matthew likes to write, having self-published several novels and speculative philosophy.
He is an avid fan of hockey and enjoys spending time with his son.
Matthew has conducted numerous trials, motions, conferences and appeals. Some of his cases were published and can be found on www.canlii.org:
